Welcome to my new weekly feature - Sunday Breakfast Stories. Inspired by the viral videos of #breakfastsaroundtheworld I wanted to do something closer to home Indian breakfasts are known to pack a lot of nutrition and flavor in them, also there are loads of breakfast options!! Most of the local dishes are unknown to many...so in the quest of trying to cook and experience as much as Indian breakfast options as possible...heres my new feature - Sunday Breakfast stories with Breakfasts Around India . . Todays first breakfast is a dish native to Maharashtra state in India Misal or मिसळ is a curry make of sprouted mung beans (hence protein packed) spiced with local spices (i like to make mine mildly spicy but it does get crazy spicy) and it was also voted as the tastiest vegetarian meal in the world!! It is topped with freshly chopped onions, cilantro, crisps and a piece of lime ..it is usually served with bread rolls or Pav Slightly heavy on the palate, this is an ideal option of heavy breakfast/brunch or even a meal. Spring break started with a birthday celebration in house which prompted me to try out this fresh strawberry cake inspired from the Homemade Strawberry Cake recipe by @sallysbakeblog I did some minor tweaks to the recipe and the frosting and stuck to simple decorations...end result a delicious soft fruity cake with natural flavors and no added color! The usual chicken pasta with a twist..This is a cheesy carby spicy comfort food my #indian soul needs sometimes I made some fresh #tikkamasala sauce at home and added grilled chicken to it, once the flavors mingled I tossed in some cooked pasta (elbow pasta works best as it soaks up all the goodness) and some cheese. It let it cook for a bit before taking off the heat and letting the sauce soak in.
