Brunch scenes today at @georgesofoakpark We have been visiting them regularly since early this year and everything we try impresses us! I tried this lovely Greek styled broiled chicken served with tangy greek rice, pita, potatoes and a side of lentil soup! This week my #sundaybreakfaststories features the humble #pao or bread from the state of #Goa on the western coast of India Known to be a coastal state this puffy freshly baked bread is made early in the morning and sold from two wheelers door to door. We bought this from a seller near our bnb it was still warm from the oven, soft and fresh! We started summer holidays this year with short day trips in and around the city. One such trip was to escape the hustle bustle of the city to Anderson Japanese Gardens at Rockford Illinois. Located around an hour and half away from Chicago these serene gardens transport you into a quiet and peaceful world. Summer on my plate - these pleasant summer days mean more time spent outdoors and more energy spent! To keep your energy levels high you need to eat well and nourish your body with natural sugars and vitamins. So today for breakfast I mixed together whole wheat flour with finely chopped red cabbage, carrot and spinach some roasted flax seeds and sesame seeds, rolled it in a soft dough and made flatbreads / parathas out of it. I served them warm with freshly made mint & lime chutney. We celebrated a small festival yesterday which is usually celebrated by women in Maharashtra state of India known as Vat Purnima it is similar to the pretty popular festival of #karvachauth The concept behind this festival is that a married woman will pray to the deities for a long and healthy life for her husband and that their marriage should last beyond infinity.
